Developer API

A URL shortener API on every plan, even Free

The GoTinyURL REST API lets your own software create and manage short links, bio pages, QR codes, pixels, splash pages, custom domains and statistics. Requests use a personal API key sent as a Bearer token and return JSON. The API is included on every plan, including Free, with 60 requests per minute per key.

What is a URL shortener API?

A URL shortener API is a programming interface that lets software create short links automatically. Instead of shortening links by hand in a dashboard, a shop, CRM or script sends a request with the long URL and receives the short link back, ready to put in an email, a text message or a database.

FAQ

Developer API: common questions

8 questions
Q01Is the GoTinyURL API free?

Yes. API access is included on every plan, including Free. Your plan's limits, such as the number of active links, apply to links created through the API.

Q02How do I authenticate?

Send your personal API key in the Authorization header as a Bearer token. Find the key in the API section of your account in the app, and keep it secret.

Q03What is the rate limit?

60 requests per minute per API key. Each response includes X-RateLimit headers so your code can slow down before it is limited.

Q04Where is the API documentation?

The full reference, with every endpoint and example requests, is in the app at app.gotinyurl.com/api-documentation.

Q05What can I build with it?

Common uses include shortening links automatically in order emails and SMS, adding tracked links to a CRM, generating QR codes for product labels and pulling click statistics into a client dashboard.

Q06What format does the API return?

JSON, with a data object for the resource and meta and links objects for paginated lists.

Q07Can I use the API with no-code tools?

Yes. Any tool that can send an HTTP request with a header, such as an automation platform's webhook or HTTP step, can call the API.

Q08What happens if my key leaks?

Regenerate it in your account settings straight away; the old key stops working immediately.
